My Boyfirend is upset because i cut my hair without his consent, what do you think about that?

Is it me or isn't it ridiculous that my boyfriend today found out I cut my hair short (it looks great) and now he "doesn't want to see me until it grows back"(exaggerate).

Hes upset about the fact that i went to cut it after he had mentioned before that he likes me with my hair long. He put up this huge fight over the phone about "why did I do it when he said he didn't want me to cut it", now hes giving me the cold shoulder not calling me.

Am i wrong for what i did, or is he too high strung? How should I deal?

P.S. My hair really needed a cut, I didn't do it to upset him.

He sounds like a controlling jerk who can't handle when he feels you don't honor his opinion above all others, including yours. He should love you no matter what length of hair you have or whether or not he likes your current hair cut. Be careful that you don't become afraid to disappoint him, this could be him manipulating you into always doing what he wants.

Seriously, he is being a baby. He should be happy his girlfriend takes care of her hair. Don't sweat it, cuz if he really is actually THAT superficial he doesn't need a girlfriend til he can see past a haircut.

I think he was overreacting a bit. But I don't think he really meant that he never wanted to see you again. Try to call him tomorrow or something to see if he's alright.

well my boyfriend also said to me he hates short hair, he loves my hair long. but when i got it cut, i expected it to be medium, and the lady cut it extremely short. i thought he'd freak out, but he just thought i looked sexier even tho he doesnt like short hair. now that my hair is long, he says he likes it better short! lol, guys are as complicated as girls are, and tell ur boyfriend ''if you dont love me enough to be with me over something as stupid as a haircut, then your not worth it'' if he says ''fine'' dont call him until he comes back to u, if he doesnt come back to u, good ridance!!if he apologizes then id take him back but tell him to never have that sort of temper tantrum ever again.

Depends how serious the bf is. If you know he likes your long hair and you get it cut and it's a serious bf, then yeah he has a right to be upset. I mean, it is true that it's your hair but if you're building a life together, you have to be respectful to the other persons wishes as well. I'm sure he felt like he expressed something to you and you went out and did something inspite of it.

The right thing to do would have been to tell before you got your hair cut that you were thinking of getting it cut shorter and show him a picture. Either way, he is over reacting and shouldn't have reacted like that. He needs to grow up and learn how relationships work and how to communicate and relate to you better. If it's not a serious relationship (as in been together for 2 years and talking about moving in or getting engaged), then he's WAY off base and acting like a 12 year old.

Either way, I think you both have some parts in the wrong doing and could handle this situation better in the future. I'm sure it will blow over soon enough and he'll come back and realize your hair looks great anyhow though. :)

You are not wrong for getting your hair cut. A bf is not your husband, so how can he tell you not to get your hair cut. And even if he was your husband, he should ask you and not tell you. This man is about drama and his behavior is just a preview of how he really is. If it wasn't your hair cut, then it would be something else. If he's upset and giving you the cold should, then you should go where the heat is. The heat is, going on about your business and forgetting about him. You'll eventually meet a nice guy who's serious and not about drama.
